Registration Information

If you want to join the industry you must abide by the rules and regulations set forth by Ontario's Motor Vehicle Dealers Act (MVDA). For this purpose you must fulfill certain requirements and follow a registration procedure.

It is important to note that criminal record searches are conducted Canada-wide on every individual entering or returning to the industry. No application, as a dealer or as a salesperson, is approved without clearing this step. These background searches assist us in ensuring that people in the industry will conduct themselves with honesty and integrity, as well as in a financially responsible manner, as required by the MVDA.

Remember that in order to keep your registration valid you must abide by the rules and regulations of the MVDA. Failure to do so may result in administrative action or even a proposal to revoke your registration. This holds true for every aspect of your operation as a motor vehicle dealer, including the accuracy of your advertising messages.
