The Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) advises consumers that Hayats Auto Sales and Leasing (1777 Dundas St. E., London) is no longer registered as a dealer with OMVIC.
In Ontario, all motor vehicle dealers and salespeople must be registered with OMVIC before buying, selling or leasing vehicles. Consumers who purchase vehicles through unregistered dealers are not protected by provincial legislation.
Consumers who may have concerns about recent purchases or transactions through Hayats are invited to contact OMVIC at 1-800-942-6002, ext. 5105 to speak to a complaints representative.
Dealer and salesperson registration can be verified through the following page on OMVIC’s website:
https://ewconsumers.omvic.on.ca/Index/Index.aspx. Only transactions conducted through registered dealers are protected through the Motor Vehicle Dealers Compensation Fund. The fund is financed by registered dealers and is available (under specific criteria) to consumers who may have suffered a financial loss from their motor vehicle transaction. This protection is lost if buying privately or through an unregistered dealer.
