OMVIC |

|
Before filing a complaint, be
advised that OMVIC has no
jurisdiction upon private sales.
If you have a dispute with a
private seller, you may have to
take that person to court. If
you bought a vehicle from
somebody operating outside the
law, please check our
Avoid Curbsiders page. If
you have a complaint related to
the purchase of a new vehicle,
you may need to contact the
Canadian Motor Vehicle
Arbitration Plan. Check the
CAMVAP page for that
purpose. Even when the dispute
involves a registered dealer,
OMVIC cannot force the dealer
into settling the dispute. What
we do is work with both parties
in order to try to reach a
satisfactory solution for all
involved.
Before using this form to
file a complaint with OMVIC,
make sure of the following:
- You have contacted the
dealer and tried to solve
the problem,
- You have had an
independent mechanic look at
the vehicle,
- You have obtained a
Used
Vehicle Information Package
(UVIP) from the Ministry of
Transportation,
- You have tried to reach
the previous owner(s) of the
vehicle.

You'll need to support your
claim by providing OMVIC with
copies of all documents
pertinent to this transaction:
- Purchase agreement
and/or bill of sale,
- Repair estimates and/or
bills,
- Letters sent to dealer
and or others,
- Any other document that
you deem necessary.
When submitting your
documentation please quote:
"Internet Complaint".
