JOHN CARMICHAEL has been named Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC).
OMVIC’s Board of Directors made the announcement after an intensive search. “We are certain John is exactly the right person, with the necessary experience and skill set, to lead OMVIC and to ensure its ability to meet its mandate is not only maintained, but strengthened,” stated Board President, Ron Marostica.
“OMVIC has earned a remarkable reputation with the government, with consumers and dealers, and with other regulators and law enforcement agencies,” said Carmichael. “As a member of OMVIC’s founding Board, I am very proud of the reputation for excellence this organization has earned, in no small part due to its commitment to stakeholder engagement, and I am excited to continue that incredible work.”
Prior to joining OMVIC, John served as the Member of Parliament for Don Valley West from 2011 to 2015. Before entering the political arena, he operated one of the largest and most successful General Motors Dealerships in the Greater Toronto Area.
John is also deeply involved in the community, having served as president of Rowing Canada Aviron and as a board member of the Canadian Olympic Committee. Additionally, John has lent his considerable fundraising skills to community charitable organizations including the North York General Hospital and the Shaw Festival Foundation.
John assumed his role as OMVIC CEO on March 8th.
