OMVIC is alerting dealers and salespeople to two dealerships who have been served an Immediate Suspension Order:


KK Motors Canada Inc.

OMVIC ordered the immediate suspension of KK Motors Canada Inc., 6295 Mississauga Road, Unit 215-A, Mississauga, and its sole officer and director, Kajendran Kasippillai, for a number of alleged offenses including:

  • selling insurance write-offs to consumers through an unregistered business or individual
  • failing to disclose material facts related to vehicle histories and/or condition
  • fraudulent manipulation of vehicle odometers by, or on behalf of, the dealer
  • forging consumer signatures on bills of sale
  • fraudulently transferring vehicles into past customers’ names without their knowledge or consent

Marcel Motors Ltd. o/a Eastside Better Used Cars

OMVIC ordered the immediate suspension of Marcel Motors Ltd. o/a Eastside Better Used Cars, 2925 Bank St., Ottawa, and its sole officer and director, Nitin Chopra. The suspension was issued following serious consumer complaints and alleged breaches of terms and conditions of registration. Specifically, the dealer allegedly:

  • failed to pay out liens (or pay out liens within seven days as ordered by LAT) on vehicles traded in by consumers
  • failed to submit documents/payments to warranty providers (or submit documents/payments within the timeline ordered by LAT) potentially leaving customers with no warranty coverage
  • failed to provide a $30,000 letter of credit to the Motor Vehicle Dealers Compensation Fund (or have their law firm do the same) by the date ordered by LAT
  • failed to ensure its bookkeeper completed Georgian College’s online “Automotive Record Keeping” course, as ordered by LAT

A dealer whose registration has been suspended may not legally trade (buy, sell, lease or consign) motor vehicles. Note: a dealer may appeal an Immediate Suspension Order and a hearing will be held within 15 days before the Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT). The Tribunal will determine if the order should be extended until a final determination is made regarding the associated Proposal to Revoke Registration.

OMVIC is making this information available to ensure dealers don’t unknowingly engage in trade with suspended or revoked dealers. “This is meant to help protect the wider dealer community,” explained John Carmichael, OMVIC CEO and Interim Registrar. “And we also want all dealers, and members of the public, to understand that OMVIC’s prime role is to protect consumers. Fortunately, we do not have to exercise the authority to issue immediate suspensions often, but in cases where there is imminent consumer harm, OMVIC will take all necessary steps to carry out its mandate.”
