Inspection Notices call for COVID-19 health measures to be in place

Dealers should expect OMVIC Inspectors to review books and records to ensure compliance with the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act, 2002 (MVDA).

In most instances OMVIC will send out a courtesy Inspection Notice before attending on-site to ensure dealerships have implemented all mandated public health and safety measures such as physical distancing strategies, appropriate use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and sanitized tools and surfaces, and that an appropriate work area for Inspectors is available.

Inspection Notices will also specify the documentation that dealers must make available including, but not limited to, records and documents regarding vehicle sales, warranties, bank records and proof of a garage insurance policy.

OMVIC’s staff will wear PPE during inspections. They will also adhere to all necessary health and safety protocols mandated by Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Prevention Services.
