Protect yourself. Read these important car-buying tips before you sign!
Friday, May 8, 2020
Although there is much uncertainty in the marketplace these days, one thing remains the same: the more informed you are about your consumer rights, the better off you will be when the time comes to buy a car.
As Ontario Vehicle Sales Regulator, OMVIC has a mandate to protect and educate consumers. We do this in several ways including offering free car-buying seminars to school or community groups in Ontario.
Taught by OMVIC’s Education Staff, the car-buying presentations cover the basics; including what to consider when choosing a vehicle and the consumer’s right to all-in price advertising; however, the presentations can also be tailored to fit the demands of a specific group. Not only are the presentations FREE, they are offered in webinar format, so participants can attend from the safety of their homes while practicing physical distancing.
So why think of a consumer seminar now? Despite the pandemic, there comes a point when purchasing a new vehicle may become a necessity. Taking our current living situation into account during COVID-19, the seminar has been updated with useful tips to help consumers feel safe and confident when buying a vehicle online or, now that dealerships have reopened, at the physical store.
The information provided in the seminars can really make a difference to your car-buying confidence, regardless of whether you’re a first-time car-buyer or even if you think of yourself as seasoned. The information presented will help consumers understand how to safely navigate the marketplace and empower them with knowledge.
